me, workaholic?

hello everyone, how’s it going? ^^/
so, long time no see, huh? sorry ’bout that, I can explain… I’ve been busy. not just that, I don’t think I’ve ever been this busy before – except when writing the graduation paper, yup. now that is what I call *busy*.

ahem, where was I? ah, yes. I’ve been busy with my latest project, “ruby’s webdesigns”. since I’m now graduated, and was still unemployed, I had the idea of starting my own business when a friend asked me to design her website. and so I did. at the moment I’m finishing it up, fighting with databases and installations, and doing another client’s website that needs to be online and functioning by… sunday.

all that, of course, keeps me too busy to even do a webpage for my new business. =P
in the meantime, I got a job. so there goes more time, hah hah. but I haven’t forgotten about rubysland, no sir… I’ve had a few ideas for a new layout, and I’ve found the multi-language plugin I was looking for (and hopefully I won’t need to bother Justin to install it). maybe I’ll have it done by the end of the month? hope so.

Queens of the Stone Age – No One Knows

and if I thought it was hard to work before, it’s surely because I forgot what was coming next…

Shakira – Suerte

hello ya all. I hope you had a nice christmas. =)

I must apologize for yet another long hiatus, but when inspiration runs away, there’s very little point in chasing it (too tiresome, just not worth it). I’ll see if I can make up for it sometime soon. 2005 was an incredibly sucky year – as the low post count shows -, but it did have its bright moments. I do plan to write about them eventually, and also I have a few projects planned for this year:
- a functional dual-language version for this site (must talk to uncle Justino).
- write a decent retrospective of 2005.
- write about happenings that were worth mentioning here but, for some reason, weren’t.
- the photo album, finally!
- learn php.

now, allow me to explain the title.
rubysland as we know it now started in the end of 2003, but I started my first blog sometime in early 2002 (yes, I’m almost sure it was 2002). it was a very rudimentary thing with (already) badly written texts, whose only remains are stashed away somewhere. so, that was year 1, and now we start year 5. so that I won’t have to remember anniversary dates and stuff. a perfectly practical and logical reason. ^-^

happy new year, folks! o/

come again..?

Remy Zero – Save Me

I feel sick today. must’ve gotten a cold from my sister, I don’t know… I woke up this morning for choir, but I can’t sing with a sore throat, ne? so I took some medicine and went back to bed, slept ’til noon. anti-hystaminics make me sleepy.

I’ve been going from task to task for about two hours, now, I keep forgetting halfways what I was doing. that’s how well my focus is working now.

. . .

yeah.

ah, the joys of motherhood…

the Phantom of the Opera OST – Overture

Halloween should be forbidden to happen on a monday. how am I supposed to enjoy my favouritest holiday having to sit in a bus for 3h for a 2h class at college, being so busy with the graduation paper I can’t even breathe? nono, the universe shouldn’t allow such things to happen. -.-

yes, I did use the same pic from two years ago. but it doesn’t matter, because it’s cute and I like it. ^^
not much else to say here, so see you some other time. o/

sex, cake and writing – not necessarily in that order

tired
Queen – I want to break free

for almost three weeks now I strive to start writing my graduation paper. okay, writing is not really a problem, the problem is writing something that is both good and makes sense. but I do have to write something, regardless, or it’ll never be finished by december 5th, when I have to hand it in. yesterday, in a moment of desperation, I mentioned to Etienne that I’d gladly give up sex until the end of the year if I could just get some decent writing skills.

today he came across this article, and sent it to me. “A study has found that a person’s choice of food is dictated by their state of mind and diners apparently seek out dishes to regulate how they feel. Angry people turn to chewy foods while the sexually frustrated crave carbohydrate-rich biscuits and cakes. Those under stress reach for salty snacks while people going through crises such as divorce tend to revert to the foods of childhood such as ice cream.”
I’ve always said that researchers have absolutely nothing better to do with their time, and this article just proves it.

well, also today I have managed to conclude a work that I haven’t been able to do in three weeks. I was finally able to write the paper’s introduction, and while it’s not the best piece of writing ever, it’s something and it’s a start. my writing skills seem to have improved, after all.

and, of course, if those researches who got nothing better to do with their times than to research how people’s moods affect how they choose their food are right… I’ll be eating a whole lot of cake – and twice the amount of chips – before january comes. =/

shrieky
lots of meowing

this is probably one of the hardest times I’ve had writing a post. not because of the writing itself – though that is usually a problem, indeed -, but because I keep getting distracted by two little things running around the room, demanding constant attention.

yes, lovely, aren’t they? once again one of Etienne’s doings, which gives me lots of worries and hard work, but twice the amount of joy. ^^
let’s introduce them, shall we? few pics ahead, start clicking around!

the little black one is Naoji, named by kikachan after a character from Meine Liebe. yes, it’s anime. just Google it up if you feel like it. though I myself think he looks a lot more like Suppi from Card Captor Sakura.
he is very much like kikachan herself: loves to be cuddled, which is everything kika needs in a cat. he’s also quite fearless, having endured a blow-drying session completely unaffected, after a much needed bath (no, the bath he didn’t like, but the fleas had to go), and daring to sniff around Taty when she came to visit. unfortunately, he did not escape the drooling.

the striped female is Kiara. she was named after lovely actress Kiara Sasso, who currently plays the role of Christine Daae in the local production of “The Phantom of the Opera”. I’ve seen it twice already, but only saw Sara Sarres in the role of Christine – it’s a big part, they have to share it. though I loved Sara, the kitten looked more like a Kiara. so there. ^^
she’s a slight more scaredy than her brother. she can’t really be blamed, since her experience here so far has been a bit more traumatic, having been bathed and blow-dried, and attacked by a very big dog who is extremely eager to play with the new house mates. my fault there, it’s very hard to hold him when he’s this happy. luckily there was no physical harm, and hopefully she’ll forget everything in a few months.

currently my room is their domain. Naoji already shows signs of wanting to explore the house, but I can’t really let them out until they’ve learned to use the litter box properly – and for some reason they think their bed is it. hopefully that can be changed soon. fortunately for me they can’t climb on my bed yet. ^^

sleepy
the rain outside

why do blankets and sheets always insist on sliding in opposite directions when you’re sleeping, usually leaving you in direct contact with the blanket?

explorative
Dvorak – Te Deum (Op. 103)

wooow! what a change here, huh? would you look at that… ^^
that’s right, people! new server, new blog… old posts. hehehe. ^^;
first of all, I’d like to thank Justin for putting this up for me and hosting my site. I owe you a nude pic. ;) yeah, I did want to create a pretty new layout for it, but WordPress uses php, and I don’t know php. so I looked around and found myself a pretty little pre-made so that Justin’s work would not be in vain. also, I’ve been wanting to post for a while.

well, that’ll be all for now. and, oh, look at that! a comment box! put it to good use, now will ya? ;)
